Private Property Inflow & Infiltration Investigations

2025 | Environmental Communication Design & Illustration

Overview

A visual communication project developed for the City of Milwaukee’s PPII program, helping Grasslyn Manor homeowners understand the purpose, process, and benefits of inflow and infiltration investigations.

The goal was to make a complex engineering process clear and approachable, supporting transparency and community understanding.

Process

Working with Greenprint Partners, I contributed to concept development, illustration work, and communication strategy.

Key responsibilities included:
• Designing digital illustrations and icons for print + digital use
• Giving feedback on layout drafts and format changes
• Organizing process documentation for visual clarity
• Creating GIF animations for the final informational video
• Ensuring all visuals aligned with City branding guidelines

The design prioritized readability and approachability for residents with varying technical backgrounds.

Outcome

Deliverables included:
• An illustrated homeowner process guide
• Animated assets used in the official City of Milwaukee video
• Visuals for public outreach presentations
• Graphics published on the City’s PPII page, DPW Infrastructure Resources, and the Grasslyn Manor project site

This project strengthened my skills in civic communication, bridging technical information with community-focused design.

Reflection

Working on the PPII project deepened my respect for public infrastructure communication. Translating engineering concepts into clear, accessible visuals reinforced my commitment to designing work that builds trust and supports the public good.
